About Me

As I sat across from the surgeon, I couldn’t believe that I would have to go through this operation again. He asked me with sympathy in his eyes “Do you have any questions?” I thought for a moment, then replied “Can I wear my own fabulous hospital gown?” That is exactly what I did. No matter what life throws at you, looking stylish is always a must in my book.

I have always had an eye for fashion, or at least I think I do. One of my earliest memories is arguing about what I wanted to wear to my 3rd birthday party (a royal blue jumper). I had always planned on finding my role in the fashion world. During college I spent a semester abroad in London where I studied sculpture and the human form. Sometimes you plan things and it doesn’t work out the way you imagined. To make a very long story short, I had a bad neck and was almost paralyzed. Over a 10 year period I had 5 cervical reconstructions. I spent many years suffering bound in bed. During that time I told myself  that one day, I would do all the things that I have dreamed of. I would never let anything or anyone stop me. I had to fight hard to regain my life. It was only 2 years ago that I needed a walker to walk. I am grateful that the day has come for me to take a step into the fashion world that I had dreamed of so many years ago.

I live in New York, in my opinion, the greatest city in the world for fashion. I’ve spent many days walking up and down the garment district, figuring out how to move forward in the fashion industry. My formal degree is in history with a minor in political science. For a short time I worked in television production and finance. I don’t have any formal fashion experience. What I have, comes naturally. I thought an internship would be a great way to start. I had one lined up by one of my favorite designers. Unfortunately, I had to decline the offer. Due to the titanium and bone grafts in my neck, I suffer from pain and sometimes the pain is so intense that I can’t move. Since I can’t predict my pain attacks, I can’t take on a formal internship. Me being me, I had to find another way to fulfill my fashion hunger. Using shopping to fill your fashion hunger can cause a lot of damage. I decided to enter the fashion world through this blog. Since I am always pushing myself to live my life to the fullest, I thought writing about it would be fun.  I hope to one day start my own fashion line.

I may not have a formal fashion degree but I feel and dream fashion. When I put a look together it comes from my soul. To me, fashion is an art. My favorite paintings were always the ones that caught me by surprise. The bold colors put together in a way that surprises you. Fashion isn’t just about fabrics, colors, textures and patterns. It’s about people, how we all want the world to see us. Our style is our voice to the world. Fashion is a way for us to connect. I love when strangers on the streets of Manhattan approach me to compliment my style. When I want to feel inspired, I walk around Manhattan taking in all the fabulous people which become fashion eye candy. Everything my eye sees inspires me. I want to share it with you.

I created this blog for you to be inspired by me and the reverse. I may post a delicious recipe or a fabulous lipstick. If you have any fashion questions, just ask! I want my blog to add color to your life. I hope my story inspires you to take in all life has to offer. I want to inspire you to take risks with your style choices. Be bold, enjoy color! More importantly have fun with fashion. It really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. If you feel fabulous, you will look fabulous! Each and everyone of us has “The Perfect Eye” for style!
